Gather Round (the) Table

Join us for a first of its kind - a virtual round table with the Gather cohort, to discuss experience and share expertise in all things stakeholder management and community engagement.

An experiment of sorts, and informal in nature, we’re calling those with experience or interest in working with formal and informal groups for a common cause - be it a building project, a social venture, business transformation, community mobilisation. You name it, if you had multiple and diverse groups to consult with and you have lessons learned we’d love to welcome you to the table.

House rules:

• Everyone is welcome - we expect the nature of the discussion to reflect that.
• Come prepared but don’t be scared. Have a look over the proposed points below and consider what you might bring to the table for meaningful discussion - but don’t fret, the Gather gang is warm and welcoming. We’re keen to hear what everyone has to say.
• This is a knowledge and experience sharing space. While we welcome a better understanding of who you are, what you do and how that shapes your experience in the round table topic, please save your elevator pitch for our networking events.

Some discussion prompts for consideration:

• Introductions - who you are, what you do and how thats influenced your experience in stakeholder manager + community engagement.
• What makes a good stakeholder?
• What makes a good stakeholder management lead?
• Why is meaningful engagement important?
• What’s an example where successful SM and CE delivered positive results and what tools what instrumental in this?
• What sources have served as inspiration or educational?
• Cautionary tales - has it all gone wrong? Have you got lessons learned to share?
• New to SM + CE? Perhaps you have a current challenge you’d like to put to the group for discussion.
• How to manage expectations and leverage buy-in across multi-headed groups.
• Marketing and comms - key challenges and key benefits or getting those comms just right.
• Conflict resolution - a how do we go about it and what’s your role in it?

The above are simply prompts, we hope it gets the intellectual juices brewing ahead of a fruitful discussion.

Timing - we understand time is precious! If you can only join us for the first hour, please do. We have otherwise allowed for an hour an a half for discussion to carry on if productive, on the day.
